My Fellow Abaconians (October 11,2021)

This week, October 11th 2021, was very productive. The immediate priority is to enable my Abaconians to have a roof over their head; a home of their own. One of the essentials of a better quality of life is to be able to have a safe and comfortable place to live.

The Hon. JoBeth Coleby-Davis, Minister of Housing and Transport, and I had a ground breaking meeting to begin the affordable housing initiative and had a real discussion on the challenges we face at Marsh Harbour Port. The housing land sites are being defined and detailed on how to immediately begin. A government program is being put together to help the most needed Dorian hit Abaconians get into these upcoming homes. Additionally, we discussed the challenges at our Marsh Harbour Port. The Port employees must be paid to date and Security at our Port is of the highest concern. Hon. Coleby-Davis is one with Abaco and has mandated me to bring to her attention the immediate and long term needs of this vital organ of Abaco. I will do so and follow-up to ensure my Abaconians are safe, housed and able to feed their families.

Education is essential for our future generations. Hon. Glenys Hanna Martin, Minister of Education, has been briefly told of our School challenges and we are to have a further discussion on Monday coming to fully put light on our situation and discussing our challenges with the virtual platform.

As Parl. Sec. In Tourism, Investment and Aviation, I am at the table and able to bring to the attention the opportunities Abaco and our cays offer. Investments in our beloved Abaco is fourth coming.

There are many whom want to invest, however I am minded that any foreign investment on our island Must benefit Our people. It is my intention to streamline notifications from our utilities, directly from them, to update Abaco more quickly and efficiently. Smaller, but just as important, challenges are brought to my attention and I work on them consistently.
