My Fellow Abaconians (February 7th, 2022)

My Fellow Abaconians, This week of February 7th was exciting to see the Affordable Housing Fair dates announced. February 24th to 26th will be the start of much needed Homes in Abaco provided by The Ministry of Transport and Housing, Thank you Minister Coleby Davis. This is the first of the intiatives to empower Abaconians to own their own homes. Beginning with the Spring City and Central Pines areas. The Urban Renewal, small homes repairs program was also launched this week. I'm thankful to Hon. Lisa Rahming for initiating this program as much needed repair assistance to those whom have a home and are unable to complete the repairs. Abaconians need much awaited help for our housing problems and this is another program designed to do that. I'm confident the Davis/Cooper Administration has Abaco's interest at heart. A well needed sign that we are getting on track to a great recovery is the opening of the Bahamas Fast Ferry terminal that will service Baker's Bay. This $20 million investment by Bahamas Fast Ferry shows the level of commitment to Abaco and confidence in our full rebound. I am thankful to Deputy Prime Minister Cooper for visiting Abaco to officially open the facilities. Accompanied by Minister Coleby Davis for Ministry of Transport/Housing and Parliamentary Secretary for Public Works Hon. Rolle. The Marsh Harbour Airport Fire Service received delivery of the Brand New state of the art aviation fire fighting truck capable of water, Foam and Dry chemical agent. This will ensure the safety of our flight service personnel and passengers for commercial and private flights flying into the Abacos. Marsh Harbour Airport Control Tower and Emergency Vehicle Barracks had the initial assessment for that facility to be fixed. With our high demand and growing flight services this is needed immediately. I was happy to provide The Youth Basketball group in Moore's Island with much needed New Basketball Shoes, Socks, Outdoor Basketballs, and Rims for the Court. It is my intiative to rebuild the sporting facilities in my constituency and provide gear for our talented young boys and girls. We Abaconians are some of the most talented and gifted people in the world. Stephen Gardiner and many others have proven this on the world stages. Housing is our greatest challenge and of highest priority. Many Abaconians are living in Domes, Trailers, unfinished homes, etc. These two intiatives are the beginning of many programs to help move beyond the rebuild stage of recovery.
